How's your SEO strategy looking? Good? It's not good enough. Trust me.

Graduates from the Willem de Kooning Academy just blew my mind... they turned a Google image search result into an ad. Yup, that's right.

Work your SEO hard enough and anything is possible. They're calling it SEA - Search Engine Advertising.

"We've created this Search Engine Advertising campaign for Volkswagen during our third year in advertising, and we're now talking with interesting parties to get this idea into production.' Everyday millions of people are searching for products and brands on Google, and what could be best than an image to get the picture? If Google is the place to advertise yourself, then Search Engine Advertising is just the right tool to do it."

I love this. It's exactly what the digital & social advertising industry (and this generation) is all about - quick thinking, agility, ingenuity and knowing your medium and channel well enough to produce something simple yet spectacular. It also reminds me of the Uniqlo Pinterest scrolling campaign we saw last year from Firstborn in NYC.

In a world where brands are desperate to get cut-through with consumers in digital and social, being the first to do something a little different is absolute gold. Creativity is not just about a fancy headline, a well drawn black and white scamp or a great shoot anymore. Creativity belongs to the geeks, the developers, the coders, the techies, the ones who really understand digital.

Well done to Guus ter Beek, Alwin Lanting, Pim van Bommel & Qreativ - the team behind this VW SEA campaign. You guys are sooooooo hot right now (as the cool kids say).
